The city of Paderborn is located in the centre of Germany in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which also includes the cities of Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bonn, Bielefeld and Dortmund. With around 150,000 residents the city is both lively and multifaceted.
Paderborn is home of the oldest university in Westphalia: As early as 1614 the Jesuits founded the Paderborn University, and since its reopening in 1972 the Paderborn University has about 20,000 students today.
Paderborn is also the origin of the Pader River which has more than 200 springs near the famous Paderborn dome.
Paderborn is also a well-known high-tech city, home of the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum, the world’s largest computer museum and a popular destination for the IT industry worldwide. In addition, there are many world-famous companies such as Benteler AG, Diebold Nixdorf, Zuken, dSPACE, Claas and McAfee.
There are a lot of possibilities for the leisure time, such as sports, museums, cinemas, shopping facilities and many more. Our students can visit the Safari Park or the Freilichtmuseum in Detmold where you can see original buildings from the medieval times in Germany.
